Know Your WHY – Live Life Well Link Up # 12
Know your WHY applies to just about every area of your life. I’m sure you’ve heard it a lot recently with all the goal setting hype in January. I’ve written many times about how important it is to know your WHY when it comes to accomplishing your goals. Planning your year. Doing something new and scary. or Changing up your day.
In our featured post this week, Debbie Kitterman from Dare2Hear, shares how when we don’t know our WHY we will run wild. When we aren’t anchored in Christ and what He’s called us to, or we don’t have a clear picture of WHY we want something or how we want to define our life or raise our children, we run around in circles.
I’m sure some of you can relate. Have you ever gone back and forth and then back and forth on something that is important to you. You don’t have a clear picture of exactly how something is going to look, so you think of the one million possiblities and then stress and strain trying to figure out which one is the best? Or maybe you jump at this opportunity and that one but never finish anything because you lose interest or it gets to be too much?
I’ve done all of those things so many times! It’s frustrating. Overwhelming. Leaves you feeling defeated and discouraged. Usually guilt follows closely.
Kowing our WHY can help us avoid those things, because we aren’t going after “all the things.” Instead we stick to the things that really matter. Let me just be transparent and say, this is something I have to work on too. I love ideas and trying new things and learning, but I think it’s time to take Debbie’s advise and dig in deep with the Lord and gain His vision.
Debbie’s post goes into a bit about your WHY in business. I thought I’d take the time to share with you a little bit of my why behind the blog and things I’m praying about for the future.
My WHY here at Overwhelmed to Fulfilled is to encourage Christian moms who feel like they can never measure up to let go of the guilt. For them to know who they are in Christ, and to identify and focus on the things that matter most to them and love their actual life.
I don’t know exactly how God wants me to get that message across this year, or how much time He desires for me to invest in the blog, but I know that it’s what He has placed on my heart. I will be praying for His vision of how to do that best.
If you are an overwhelmed Christain mom, you are not alone! I’d love to hear from you. To know your struggle. To hear your story. What do you feel like you need? You don’t have to post here. Email me at Jessica@overwhelmedtofulfilled.com I care about you and want to serve you the best way I can.
Live Life Well Featured Post
Last week I shared my #OneWord2018 and took a little trip down memory lane of the past few years #onewords. If you didn’t get a chance to check it out, please feel free to do so by clicking on the picture below.
I also shared three verses God gave me to go with my word “Vision” for this year. Today’s blog post was inspired by the first Scripture I am studying and focusing on at this time.
If you run a business, or lead a group of people, one of the first things you learn in any leadership 101 course or book, is to Know Your Why.
To “know your why” is a fancy phrase for knowing your purpose. When we know our purpose and our calling we can stay the course when things get tough. When we “know our why” we are inspired, and it can help to motivate and propel us forward.
Now I know some of you may be thinking that you aren’t running a business, or leading people. While that may be true in the traditional sense, you are living and leading your own life. You may also be leading your family and maybe leading others in your circle of influence too. Maybe you don’t see yourself as a leader, but, you are one. Whether you know it or not, other people are watching you and taking note of the way you live your life. It is important that we know our purpose. Our primary purpose as a follower of Jesus Christ is to love as He loved. In fact, Jesus said the greatest commandments of the Bible is: “to love the lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul and then to love your neighbor as yourself.” (See Matt 22:36-40)
