Meditate on God’s Truth
Featured post from The Quiet Homemaker
I struggled for many years to mature in Christ. Although I was a Christain for years, I felt like one of the Corinthians that Paul addressed in 1 Corinthians 3:1-2 a Christain Infant.
However, brothers and sisters, I could not talk to you as to spiritual people, but [only] as to [a]worldly people [dominated by human nature], mere infants [in the new life] in Christ! 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Even now you are still not ready. – 1 Corinthians 3:1-2
I have to admit it’s scary and a little sad to admit that here in the openness of the internet. Let me be clear that I still have a long way to go to become what I would consider a mature Christain, but Thanks to God for guiding me on the path to that maturity. I’ve read and studied God’s word faithfully for the last 4-5 years, but I had the hardest time applying it to my daily life.
Change in Your Daily Life
How do you take the word of God and make it real for you? How do you take the things you’re learning in your Head and your Spirit and allow them to seep into your everyday living? Your words and actions? Your attitude and decisions?
Change comes as we know God more and more. We pray and ask Him to help us, to lead us, to guide us, and change us. The other big component for helping to bring real change in my life has been meditation on God’s word. His truth. Amy @ The Quiet Homemaker does an excellent job at giving us some examples and resources to help with meditating on God’s word.
For me personally, just repeating His truth over and over in my head has helped tremendously. Whether that’s full scripture or just small statements of truth. (God loves me. I am enough. I am not easily angered.) Even when I feel everything except those truths.
The biggest shift recently has come by claiming to the Lord “I surrender” over and over and over. As I say the words in my mind, I picture Jesus standing with His arms open and the cross in the background. What a welcoming picture. One that completely takes the focus off of me and onto Him. Then I surrender whatever I’m in the middle of at that moment. “Lord, I surrender my parenting. My words and thoughts. My marriage. The blog.” It’s simple, yet powerful.
Find the resources and techniques to get the help you on your journey of meditating on God’s word go to Amy’s post on The Quiet Homemaker. She makes it very easy to get you started. Plus she has a whole series of Accepting God’s Abundant Love for You! It’s wonderful!

Your heavenly Father loves you with a perfect and beautiful love. He knows absolutely everything about you, there is nothing you can hide from Him. And He desires for you to understand His love. Do you want to be intentional about accepting God’s abundant love for you?
Step three of accepting God’s abundant love for you is to meditate on the truth that you have gathered during your reading. Most people skip this step. They read their Bible to check something off of their to-do list.
“Meditation is one of the key ways to take yourself from being in the world to being in Christ.”
Stone Soup for Five
There are many ways that you can meditate on the word of God. As you read mark the verses that speak to you. Then use a meditation technique to further analyze your verse.
